New Thing +9: Meat Rakes

I love me some pulled pork, but I hate the actual pulling part. Luckily, I found these: meat rakes.

Aside from the obvious advantage of looking like stubby Wolverine claws, these suckers  shred through  meat with no effort at all.

And thanks to the new pulled pork recipe I used it ended in one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever made.

Big claws up on this one.

New Thing #255: Wolverine Anime Series

Scale_1

To say that today has been a taxing one for me is an understatement. Suffice to say, I was exhausted when I finally made it home tonight so I thew on Netflix and decided to watch the first episode of the Wolverine Anime series.

Boy, that was something else. And not in a good way.

You have understand that Wolverine was my first. And when I say that, I mean that he’s the character that made me care about comics when I was a kid. He wasn’t perfect like Superman or a goody two shoes like Spiderman. He was vicious, brutal, mysterious and deeply troubled. But he also had a heart and a need to protect the ones he loved.

Although X-Men Origins: Wolverine might still be one of the worst movies I’ve ever sat through, and an abomination to his storyline, this series is right up there for getting everything wrong about the character.

I understand that it’s meant for a Japanese audience, but making him into a generic, tall skinny anime dude with the voice of a twelve year old was wholey unneccessary.

The only saving grace is that he actually kills his enemies, so some of the brutality that makes him what he is makes it to the screen. But when you hear that iconic “bub” come out of his mouth you can’t help but just laugh.

And that’s not the Wolverine I want to have any part of.
