We’ve been kind of hooked on margaritas this summer at the Gaede household, especially after getting all of the cheap duty free tequila on our travels. I thought I’d change it up tonight with a fantastic cocktail recipe that I found on Serious Eats earlier this summer: a blackberry margarita.
As luck would have it, Shauna had grabbed some fresh berries at the farmers’ market today and I was able to pick up some agave nectar at Whole Foods on the way home from work. (On a side note, I’d never heard of agave nectar until today and Whole Foods had an entire shelf devoted to it.)
This drink is just bonkers. In a good way. Make that a great way.
It’s smooth and sweet and tangy at the same time. Every flavour has a presence but exists in harmony with one another. I don’t know if it’s the agave or the blackberries at work, or maybe the combination of the two, but this is the best margarita I’ve had all summer.
And the crazy part of this whole experiment? I don’t even LIKE blackberries!
