New Thing #132: RadioSoulwax

My wife has long been a fan of mashups and she put me on to the RadioSoulwax app for my iPad.

It’s pretty fantastic. I chose a cover song playlist and was pretty blown away by the level of design that’s gone into it.

There’s songs that are assembled by various covers of a single tune. Others are short snippets of songs. But what pushes it over the top is the visual experience.

For an entire hour you’re treated to a rather inspired python-esque stop motion animated feature. Each vignette is, unsurprisingly created from album art that’s sliced, diced and timed to the music.

And the best part? It’s free.

I take it back, the best part is definitely Bill Cosby singing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
